With the special support of malli poultry farmers huge quantity of illegal poultry chickens entering to Sikkim was seized at Rangpo checkpost.according to the news from the beginning of year 2008 the import of poultry products from outside the state is strictly banned to encourage and explore the local businessman and poultry growers .time to time the coordination meeting between animal husbandry and veterinary service department vs. poultry growers of the state was held and every time it was a complain that after the ban also huge quantity of poultry products are illegally coming to the market of Sikkim .but department was not serious regarding the issue. Than the poultry growers has decided to check the matter at the entry points of the state. and till this time more than five times the growers has cached the vehicles red handed at Rangpo check post the main entry point of Sikkim and handed over to the duty authority of AH/VS department. today the vehicle no sk o3-3469 loaded with more than 1000 kg of poultry chickens illegally loaded in the vehicles seized .according to poultry grower Mr. n b pradhan of malli danda the vehicles has shown the challan of fish loaded from siliguri based dealer ROYAL and has to deliver at the address of kanchan food processing and marketing cooperative society limited Gangtok. But in the challan of fish only less quantity of fish was loaded and more than 1000 kg of dressed chicken was loaded in the said vehicles. The poultry growers has handed over the vehicles along with driver and illegal dressed chicken to the concerned department i.e. AH/VS department. the poultry growers has filed an FIR at Rangpo police station for taking strict action against such type of dealer and vehicles who was totally involved in this trade from long time. The seized product market value is more than one lakh.the driver named manoj chettri talking with this correspondent accepted that this trade was running from a long period.
