Baha’I Spiritual and Social Awarness program held today at Sumbuk, South Sikkim

. The program was organized by the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Sumbuk and was held at the premises of Eureka English School. The program was graced with the presence of Continental Counselor of the Baha’is of India Mrs. Gloria Javed from Delhi. Other dignitaries were Zilla Panchyayat, Panchayat Member of Sumbuk area, Principal of Baha’i School, Tadong Mrs. Rupa Pradhan, Principal of Baha’i Senior Secondary School Saramsa Ranipool, Mr. Kailash Sharma, Principal of Eureka English School of Sumbuk Mr. Rohit Chettri and the Principal of Nabil Montessori School Jorethang, Mrs. Ranjana Pradhan and many other dignitaries and local people and other Baha’is from Gangtok,Pandam, Ranipool and Jorethang attended the program.
The program started with some prayers and Bhajans. Mr. Rohit Chettri presented wel come address. This was followed by the offering of khada to the special guest from Delhi Mrs. Gloria Javed. Counselor Mrs. Gloria in her address said the porpose of her visit to the different communities. She said that there is a great deal of anxiety that our rapid progress in controlling material world has not been matched by corresponding advancBaha’I Spiritual and Social Awarness program held today at Sumbuk, South Sikkime in human character and virtue. Moral values are disintegrating on all fronts in public and private life. Violent and destructive behaviours are increasing everywhere. All the children are attracted to the television and the television is playing negative role. There are double meaning songs, erotic poses of dances, violence and crime shown in the films which leave very bad impact on the younger generation. These children are our future. They are the leaders and the administrator of the future. So it’s the duty of every conscious citizen of the world to protect this younger generation from all kinds of negative forces. Focus and the importance should be given to the Classes of moral value for children and Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment program. Every city and the villages should cooperate to establish these kinds of classes. Spiritual knowledge and the fear of God can only protect our society and the world from destruction.
Counselor Gloria Javed said the Baha’i communities of Sikkim are silently contributing their time and energy for this kind of noble work since long. They have established junior youth spiritual empowerment program for the age group of 12 to 15 years and the children Moral Classes for the children of below 12 years. The purpose of these classes is to develop human resources who through careful study, practice and reflection become empowered to dedicate themselves to the spiritual, social and cultural progress of humanity. It aims to help junior youth learn more about the purpose of their existence.
At the end of the program she met the animators and the tutors of Sumbuk who are conducting the classes there and had consultative meeting with them. The made the plan of various activities. The children of these classes presented beautiful dance and Bhajans.
The whole program was conducted by Mr. Rohit Chhetri Principal of Eureka English School, Sumbuk. He offered thanks to all who attended the program
