SANJAY AGARWAL-23RD JUNE11-Sikkim Organic Food Growers Cooperative Society* (*Sofgcs. Ltd*). Meeting for implementation of new projects WAS held in Topakhani, singtam yesterday. The Meeting discussed on the issue of supply of fresh vegetables grown by sikkimies farmers to town consumers especially in Gangtok. Manager of the society showed detail data of the collected vegetables and sold in lall bazaar Gangtok. So far society has sold 30 qtls of vegetables which was started from the first session of June 2011. The meeting has decided to provide technical support to different SHGs and JLGs for the quality packaging of different food products. The meeting also specially Discussed on the issue of Sikkim orange demand in global market, and sikkimies people are consuming Nagpur orange with their tag, though Sikkim is a large producer of orange in India, but Sikkim is still not providing orange with Sikkim tag in outer state market, so the association has decided to supply with our state tag in outer and enter state market.
